Blue Chip has reported that it completed the implementation last year of a VMware-based virtual infrastructure at Sovereign Housing Association, with the project costing around £120,000 and taking five weeks to complete.
The new virtual infrastructure replaced Sovereign’s previous system which lacked the scalability, flexibility and resilience to cope with the demands of its 1,000-strong staff and changes to its business operations.
Blue Chip recommended VMware vSphere to enable the continuity of a number of key applications, reduce costs, including hardware and energy bills, and improve the stability and resilience of the infrastructure.
Dudley Spicer, IT manager, Sovereign Housing Association, said, “VMware vSphere was implemented at our headquarters in Newbury. We then took the backup solution, which was a previous VMware configuration, up to our disaster recovery site at Fulton Court six miles away and re-deployed that. Without our VMware-based infrastructure, the upgrade would have been far too expensive if we had followed the traditional route of just tin boxes and hardware.”
