Continuing Housing Technology’s support for apprenticeship schemes in housing, we are pleased to report that Kier has taken on 10 apprentices around North Tyneside.
The four new apprentices will work with Kier’s repairs and maintenance staff, alongside the six administrative apprentices that Kier already has in its offices. The new starters, who are aged between 16 and 17 and come from the local area, will work alongside dedicated mentors while carrying out NVQ qualifications with training provider JTL and Newcastle College.
Mike Furze, regional director for maintenance, Kier, said, “It’s vital for companies to invest in the future generation if we want to break the cycle of worklessness caused by increased competition for jobs and fewer training opportunities. At Kier, we strive to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we work and are always proud to be able to offer placement opportunities to local young people.”
