Four NVQ students have joined Orchard as part of its recently-launched apprenticeship scheme. The students will join Orchard for one year, giving them the opportunity to ‘earn while they learn’, as well as the chance of a longer-term job at the end of the apprenticeship period.
Two of the students are spending six months with Orchard’s internal support team and six months on the consultancy side of the business. The other two are in Orchard’s customer service department working on service desk activities and technical authoring.
Alison Davis, operations director, Orchard Information Systems, said, “This isn’t the first time we have run an apprenticeship scheme. In 2005, we embarked on a similar scheme which worked really well and resulted in one apprentice gaining a reputation as one of our most respected support specialists. Not everyone wants to go to university and we feel that we should continue to offer our support to those who have the potential to thrive in our environment.”
