Ordnance Survey data, including OS MasterMap products, is now free at the point of use for thousands of public-sector organisations in England and Wales, and no longer subject to limits on re-use when used internally within the public sector for public-sector activities.
Under the new Public Sector Mapping Agreement, at least 750 public-sector users of Ordnance Survey data, with provision for thousands more organisations, will benefit from cost savings and more open sharing of geographic data.
Marc Hobell, head of public sector, Ordnance Survey, said, “The PSMA marks a change in the way customers can access our data. Not only is Ordnance Survey making data available to more public-sector customers, but they are able to order and download much of that data online.”
The PSMA is expected to result in more collaborative working between organisations, including the sharing of Ordnance Survey and members’ own derived data between PSMA members.
