Accent Group is saving £170,000 per year by automating routine HR tasks with a new web-based system from Select Software.
Accent Group, which provides homes for 50,000 people across the UK and employs 700 people, has re-engineered its HR services. The housing provider, which is Select Software’s first customer for its Select HR Web Edition, has given staff and managers access to a self-service HR portal for the administration of routine HR tasks, with Accent’s HR team providing specialist and exception-based services and advice to the group.
Jean Hahn, head of HR, Accent Group, said, “These changes have allowed Accent to restructure its HR department, saving £170,000 per year from the cost of providing the HR service. While staff and managers were initially unsure about the changes, we have had excellent feedback from the training sessions and from staff using the system. The system provides much better reporting and visibility than our old system and this, along with the self-service functionality, has been a major selling point for our managers.”
Stuart Duthie, head of ICT, Accent Group, said, “From an IT perspective, rolling out the system to staff in 20 offices has been very straightforward as it is essentially an intranet and therefore doesn’t require any special software on users’ PCs.”
Also in the news, Accent Group has selected Shelton Development Services (SDS) to appraise and manage its development programme.
Accent Group will be using SDS ProVal for the appraisal of projects and SDS Sequel for overall financial and project management. Accent’s three main offices in Bradford, Peterborough and Camberley will access the SDS systems through a thin-client service from Accent’s head office in West Yorkshire.
Andy Gamble, head of residential development, Accent Group, said, “We are very pleased to be working with SDS and look forward to a successful implementation phase for the two applications. This will further strengthen our appraisal and project management capabilities across the group.”
