Recruitment within social housing may decline by more than a third during 2008, according to a specialist recruitment organisation.
Spirit Resourcing surveyed hiring managers and HR staff within social housing organisations in London and the south-east of England about their recruitment plans for 2008 compared with 2007. 38 per cent expected recruitment to decrease, 40 per cent anticipated no change, and 27 per cent expected an increase in recruitment.
James Chessum, senior housing consultant, Spirit Resourcing, said, “The sector is advancing into the second quarter against an uncertain economic outlook and banks facing lending pressures. The majority of managers were fully aware of the prevailing macro-economic uncertainties and expected their hiring rate to slow this year.”
