Irvine Housing Association has consolidated its technology infrastructure onto a virtual VMware platform. Central Networks and Technologies, which carried out the project, replaced Irvine’s 14 servers with four ESX servers, dramatically reducing server hardware expenses as well as reducing power, cooling and datacentre infrastructure costs.
CNT delivered Irvine’s new system and migrated all of the servers in just one and a half weeks. All of Irvine’s housing and finance applications and its servers, including Terminal Server, Active Directory and Exchange 2003, have now been virtualised.
Angus MacLeod, IT manager, Irvine Housing Association, said, “CNT’s VMware solution has reduced our servers from 14 to 4, saving energy, cooling requirements and space. It has also provided an environment in which to test new applications, which was difficult or impossible before.”
