After taking over 4200 properties from South Norfolk Council, Saffron Housing Trust is using a geographic information system as part of its plan to create a coherent development strategy. Before the introduction of the DataMAP GIS system from SIA, Saffron relied on a paper-based land terrier, which was difficult to maintain, could only be accessed by one person at a time, and was not 100 per cent accurate.
Saffron now uses DataMAP as part of its day-to-day operations, including resolving land disputes, finding boundaries and identifying land ownership, and defining tenant boundaries. With over a dozen people using it every day, Saffron claims that, “dataMAP plays a huge role in our organisation as we depend on it now.”
