AB Internet has completed the construction of a 100Mb symmetrical wireless network linking Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd Housing’s main offices in North Wales. Having beaten a leading global telecommunications company on both price and business value during the bid process, AB Internet began the project in September 2011 and the network was ‘lit up’ in January 2012.
The new network linking the housing provider’s offices in Denbigh and Bala was planned and constructed entirely using wireless technologies in order to satisfy the demanding requirements of Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd Housing and the challenging terrain of North Wales. The network not only links the two offices, it also supports video conferencing, voice calls between the sites, email services, web browsing and file transfer as well as the needs of remote workers throughout North Wales.
Commenting on the speed of the 30-mile long, three-hop network, AB Internet said that during acceptance testing, Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd Housing successfully transferred a 320Mb file between the two offices in just 35 seconds.
AB Internet said that the network would also benefit residential and business customers in Bala and support digital inclusion programmes in the area.
