Aico held its bi-annual community awards in April at the ICC in Birmingham, with 400 guests from the social housing sector and the local community.
In support of the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC), Aico’s award winners covered 13 categories:
• Apprentice of the year – Cole Galligan from Loughborough College and Raylec Electrical;
• Collaborative partnership – Jewson Partnership Solutions and its partnership with YouthBuild Ventures UK;
• Corporate social responsibility – Equans for its series of business workshops covering marketing, design, cyber security and HR;
• Distributor community initiative – Service Electrical Distributors (with Sovini Group) for supporting local needs, women’s refuges, armed forces support, substance recovery and sports clubs;
• Electrical contractor – Lightning Solutions Electrical Services;
• Employer engagement – Warrington & Vale Royal College’s Business Centre;
• Inspirational colleague – Alexa Scrivener from Stirling Council for commendable achievements as a role model and exceptional tenant engagement;
• Lifetime achievement – Professor Paddy Gray from Connswater;
• Neighbourhood transformation – Bassetlaw District Council and its independent living schemes;
• Resident engagement – St Leger Homes and its variety of educational and discussion programmes for its tenants;
• Rising star – Florentina Dita from PiLON for taking ownership of its social value initiatives;
• Sustainability project – Moat Homes and its decarbonisation projects;
• Woman in fire safety – Georgina Homer from Wolverhampton Homes.
Guests at the awards raised over £9,000 for the EIC; this was then matched by Aico, resulting in a total donation of £18,000 to the charity.
