Fordway Solutions has just completed the implementation of a new ICT network for Bromford Group. All of Bromford’s services are now consolidated onto a single network, resulting in reduced costs, improved resilience and a better service for end-users.
The new infrastructure was delivered in parallel with the consolidation of Bromford’s operations into a new, purpose-built headquarters. It includes a new MPLS-based WAN connecting all of Bromford’s main sites, a fully-replicated and resilient SAN infrastructure with virtualised servers, and new services including VoIP and video-conferencing.
Fordway worked with the Bromford ICT team throughout the project, which required the implementation of Bromford’s five-year ICT plan in just 18 months.
Steve Percival, director of ICT, Bromford Group, said, “We used Fordway’s experience to complement our own skills. We decided which aspects of the deployment we would handle, such as the server roll-out, while relying on Fordway’s expertise for the SAN implementation and the cabling of the entire building.”
As well as integrating all of Bromford’s offices onto a single network, the new infrastructure has reduced the time required for network management and upgrades, while replication combined with virtualisation makes provisioning quick and straightforward. New services such as Citrix enable staff to log in from any location, and Bromford’s reduction in the need for so many PCs and laptops following the Fordway implementation has provided further cost savings.
