Cave Tab, a provider of document and records management services, has been bought by Civica for an undisclosed figure. The acquisition is intended to support Civica’s increasing focus on business process services.
The two companies have worked together frequently in the past, including at the London boroughs of Barnet and Tower Hamlets where Cave Tab’s electronic post room (EPR) service is integrated with Civica’s workflow and document management software. The EPR service is reported to reduce inbound processing costs by up to 40 per cent.
Having been originally established in 1923, Cave Tab has many customers within local government and housing, supporting them with digital and physical records management from outsourced document and post room services to file-tracking systems and archiving.
Ian Keers, managing director, Cave Tab, said, “Organisations with electronic workflow and document management can generate a greater return through more efficient post opening, classification and scanning. The combined group offers better capability in this area with leading levels of throughput and accuracy, ensuring mail can be processed for transfer into workflow and EDM systems within the same day.”
