Cottsway Housing Association is one of the first customers to adopt MWS Surveyor from MIS Active Management Systems, the supplier of Cottsway’s existing housing management system.
Cottsway’s previous survey processes were paper-based which not only needed internal administrative staff to transcribe the data but also often resulted in backlogs of surveys waiting to be transcribed as well as frequent data inaccuracies.
Using MWS Surveyor, collection of property information such as component condition and Decent Homes-related elements is now much more efficient as it has eliminated the manual re-keying of surveys, with survey data uploaded direct to Cottsway’s asset management system.
Customised enhancements
Kate Clemmow, head of asset management, Cottsway Housing Association, said, “We were one of MIS’s first customers for MWS Surveyor and the help that we have had from the ActiveH development and implementation team was first rate – we suggested enhancements to the system and these were delivered very quickly to our inspectors in the field.”
Rodney Cooper, data validation officer, Cottsway, added, “The process now belongs solely to the surveyor concerned – with the new process, each surveyor is in control of completing the whole sequence, from allocating a survey to posting the results.
“This results in more accurate and consistent data entry as well as the process being completed much faster so that up-to-date asset information is now available very close to the time when it was first recorded. This benefits the whole company, from front-line customer service staff to our internal maintenance team.”
