Cheshire Peaks and Plains has implemented Cybit’s Fleetstar-Online vehicle tracking system to give real-time visibility of its workforce, reduced fleet operating costs and more efficient use of its maintenance and repairs staff.
Following recent research into the satisfaction of CPP’s tenants in its 5000 properties, CPP focused on improving the ability of its maintenance and repairs staff to get to appointments on time and to increase its first-time fix rates.
Nigel Johnson, senior quality supervisor, Cheshire Peaks and Plains, said, “We identified that vehicle tracking technology would assist us with both of these through the real-time allocation of the closest available and most appropriate worker. We also considered this from a cost-saving perspective – we wanted to send the right engineer to the right location at the right time and Fleetstar gives our control staff the ability to do this and increase our rate for first-time fixes.”
In addition to the real-time engineering dispatch benefits, Cybit’s technology will be used to underpin a number of business initiatives including the implementation of health and safety procedures and the provision of strategic business information to drive down costs while developing customer services.
Johnson explained, “We are only on the first step of using this technology. There are a number of areas we are looking at, such as carbon footprint monitoring and process streamlining, where Fleetstar will make a significant impact on our ability to provide excellent services.”
John Wisdom, sales and marketing director, Cybit added, “Fleet tracking technology has moved beyond the provision of location-based information. It is now a critical business tool where support, expertise and scale are as important as the software itself.”
Fleetstar-Online is Cybit’s suite of internet-based mobile resource management and vehicle tracking tools; data relating vehicle and job performance is captured in conjunction with location information, then reported and analysed through Fleetstar.
Fleetstar-Online uses a GPS device inside each vehicle to provide real-time positioning information. This is transmitted via the O2 GPRS network to Cybit’s servers where the data is processed into a range of user-defined and configurable reports, providing real-time fleet visualisation or historical analysis. The system can be accessed from any web-connected PC.
