Performance management seems to be one of the hot application areas at the moment and there is certainly a correlation between the use dedicated performance management systems by housing organisations which have recently improved their Audit Commission ratings. This is for two reasons. The first is that the implementation of a dedicated system to measure, manage and report organisational performance shows that the organisation already has an inherent disposition to improve its performance. The second is that the performance management system then makes it easier for them to do just that. The important point is an organisation must want to improve its performance and create the right staff culture before implementing the software; performance management software is only as good as the organisation’s management processes and its desire to change.
