We are predicting that the growth in mobile working for both in-house and field-based workers, the increase in unified communications and cloud services, and the widespread availability of tablets and smartphone devices will form the ‘perfect storm’ necessary to cause a revolution in the way housing providers run their operations and the agility with which they provide their services. These three separate but related technologies will take hot-desking to the next level, that of the ‘borderless enterprise’.
This was illustrated last week during a trip to the Netherlands by Housing Technology’s publisher where he met a number of the country’s biggest housing providers. The central theme was, ‘bricks, bytes, and behaviour’, giving all staff the IT infrastructure and working culture needed to let them work when, where, how and with whom they wanted. It has been a huge success in the Netherlands; which will be the first housing providers over here to achieve the same goals?
