NEC Software Solutions has agreed a seven-year partnership with Swindon Borough Council to replace a number of disconnected housing systems with its NEC Housing suite of software.
The council’s housing data is currently spread across numerous databases and applications, making it hard to deliver joined-up services to Swindon’s housing residents.
Arlene Griffin, head of housing, Swindon Borough Council, said, “My team works hard to meet residents’ needs but sometimes they have to chase data before they can take any action. Moving to NEC Housing is about giving our housing officers as well as our residents the information they need, when they need it.”
With NEC Housing’s ‘one system’ approach, any records added or changed by one team will be immediately available to other teams and ready to trigger actions and alerts automatically.
As well as NEC Housing’s new Engage digital platform, the contract includes Account Analytics to help the council’s housing and income officers to see which residents are at the greatest risk of arrears, using NEC’s open APIs to connect to the council’s corporate systems.
Roger Birkinshaw, executive director of government and housing, NEC Software Solutions, said, “Successful projects are built on genuine partnerships, and we’ve put a lot of work into understanding Swindon’s aspirations. By thinking hard about our shared ambitions and talking openly from the start, we have the right ways of working in place.”
Griffin said, “From the start of our selection process, we could see that NEC was ready to share its ideas and find genuine solutions to our problems. We wanted a long-term partner to help us transform our services, and while it’s still early days, we’re looking forward with confidence.”
