As part of a joint initiative with Broomfield Housing Association, Calida has launched CAL-Environment to monitor, report and manage caretaker and estate warden services.
With 100 caretakers and more than 13,000 properties, Broomfield needed a solution that could improve the efficiency and productivity of their operatives, provide real-time information reporting and accurately account for service charges to tenants.
Broomleigh had been using a mobile solution for several years, and although it was based on old technology and had a number of shortfalls, it had given them the insight to understand how they could use mobile technology more effectively. Calida was asked to develop a bespoke solution after Broomfield, part of the Affinity Sutton Group, was unable to find a supplier that met its requirements. These included task monitoring, compliance, real-time information access by customer services and managers, photographic evidence of graffiti, bulk rubbish and sharps, repair requests, reporting of key performance indicators and a back-office module.
Steve Callahan, managing director, Calida, said, “We have created an effective solution for the monitoring of caretaker and estate services as we have had the benefit of working in partnership with Broomfield, including the operatives, managers, customer services, finance and IT, as well as input from tenants. CAL-Environment has been well accepted and initial feedback has been positive. We are now developing new features, such as contractor monitoring and GPS tracking for lone workers, to further enhance the system.”
