One Housing Group has launched free wi-fi access in its north London head office and at selected housing schemes to give residents better access to the internet. The ‘One WiFi’ programme is starting with 15 schemes coming online during the 2011/12 financial year followed by a further 40 schemes next year. The wi-fi service is being supplied through Candengo.
Alan Newson, head of technical services, One Housing Group, said, “Free wi-fi in our One Support schemes lets residents feel more socially included, plus the security settings are ‘child friendly’ so customers can use the hotspots safely.”
Martin D’Mello, assistant director for housing services, added, “Residents can connect with family and friends via email and other social networks, access jobs, training and employment opportunities through OneWiFi.”
