Over 400 field-based staff at Places for People are now using mobile devices from Kirona to improve the group’s housing management and maintenance services for over 200,000 tenants across 230 locations.
Jon Thomson, head of IT, Places for People, said, “We aim to solve problems and challenges first time round and this new technology from Kirona lets us to do that, providing our customers with quicker and more responsive services.”
The latest module of the Kirona system covering contractors went live in April 2011 and is available on both smartphones and tablet PCs.
Peter West, a health and safety officer at Places for People who was involved in piloting the system, said, “The handheld tablets save me so much time. When I was on site in the past and tenants had questions or problems that needed dealing with, I might have had to return to the office or ask colleagues to help. Now I can answer tenants’ questions immediately and deal with problems straight away.”
