Hyde Housing Association has just begun the implementation of a new web-based HR system from Access, with the SelectHR system due to be operational by January 2011. SelectHR will replace Hyde’s existing HR system and will be used for self-service by all 1,700 staff.
Sarah Smithen, HR business solutions manager, Hyde Group, said, “Our existing system was 10 years’ old and was no longer suitable. We wanted a web-based system that would support the business in future and allow seamless integration with other systems including job evaluation and competency, learning and development, and recruitment.”
As well as providing important self-service capabilities, SelectHR is expected to play a prominent role in supporting Hyde through a transformational change programme.
Smithen added, “Our strategy is to move away from a ‘one size fits all’ approach to implementing a modular system, selecting ‘best of breed’ for each department. We chose SelectHR as it’s web-based, which allows business process mapping, and is user-friendly and intuitive. All 1,700 staff will be using self-service to update their personal details, access payslips, request training and book holidays, greatly reducing the burden on the HR department.”
