Capita has been selected as Sheffield City Council’s preferred bidder to deliver business transformation for the entire Sheffield community, including housing. The contract is thought to be worth around £200m over seven years, with the option to extend it by three further two-year periods.
Capita is expected to deliver a range of services including ICT, revenue, benefits and cashiering, HR and payroll, and financial business transactions. Capita will also support the council in business transformation, starting with improving customer service and introducing flexible working. Final negotiations are currently in progress with the contract expected to begin in January 2009.
The partnership will involve the TUPE transfer of approximately 50 staff from the Council and 450 staff from the previous provider to Capita.
