RCT Homes has gone live with Carval Computing’s HR and payroll system after becoming Wales’s largest housing organisation since taking control of Rhonnda Cynon Taf Borough Council’s 10,000 properties and 300 employees.
Having taken on the extra stock and becoming the UK’s first Community Mutual Trust, a model for community-owned housing produced by the Welsh Assembly, RCT Homes found that it had less than three months to identify and install a new HR and payroll system before its existing arrangements expired.
With a largely ex-local government payroll, the new system needed to accommodate local government pension schemes, spinal column points (pay scales), and a variety of pay frequencies, as well as being affordable. After evaluating several systems, RCT Homes selected Carval’s HR Unity software to provide HMRC-accredited payroll, comprehensive HR administration and web-based employee self-service.
The Unity system was installed and fully operational within six weeks of the start of the implementation, including the completion of parallel runs and staff training.
