Housing associations could reduce the costs of their postal communications to tenants, contractors and suppliers by up to 70 per cent with the new Unity hybrid mail service.
Developed by Haigh Consultancy Services and GI Direct, the Unity service lets housing associations send their post via the internet direct to GI Direct’s base in Leicester where it is printed, folded, placed in envelopes, sorted and then transported downstream to the Royal Mail.
Based on a single letter normally costing a total of between £1.00 and £1.50, including postage, stationery materials, printer consumables, envelopes and staff time, the same item sent by Unity would cost around 36 pence.
