Weaver Vale Housing Trust, one of Cheshire’s largest social landlords, has implemented thin-client services from Citrix to its 350 staff spread across the region. The thin-client strategy is intended to make it easier and faster for Weaver Vale’s IT team to deliver software and the associated updates, while increasing the working life of older PCs.
Ian Lee, ICT manager, Weaver Vale, said, “We only need to install new software once on the datacentre, and then Citrix will deliver it out to all the employees, wherever they are. This has reduced our hardware costs, as old machines can run new applications using thin-client principles.”
Orchard Information Systems implemented the Citrix XenApp system, alongside Password Manager and Safeword for Citrix to add an extra layer of security to Weaver Vale’s infrastructure.
Ian Lee said, “Using Citrix will give our staff a much better IT experience, whatever type of device they are using and wherever they’re using it. Our systems are more secure, so ultimately we are providing a better service.”
